Samantha An American Girl Holiday

Last weekend I couldn’t watch a movie so I watched one this week instead. I was really bored because I had to watch my sibilings and that is not fun at all. My sister Tatiana asked me if we could watch “Samantha An American Girl holiday”. Since there was nothing else to do I said ok because I had a lot of homework to do. To keep the kids calm I turned on the movie so I can do my homework in peace. I have to say that I really liked the film. It wasn’t a bad movie at all it was kind of sad and happy. I actually enjoyed watching it.

This film brings history boldly to life as it takes girls on a journey back to New York in 1904. Samanthas grandmary is raisng her to be a young lady, but her life starts changing the day she meets Nellie O’Malley, the servant girl next door. Even though they come from different worlds, they become fast friends, facing happiness and sorrow, adventure and danger together. They both relize that they have been through a lot of the same things in life. One day however, Samantha has to leave to New York with her uncle and her new Aunt. While being their she finds out that Nellys father has died and that she has been sent to an orphanage at the place that they left to. So that’s when the new story begins of how Samantha tries to get her memories and friends to be one happy family again.

I really liked that fact the film really looked like it was made in the 1940’s. The clothes were different then the ones we wear in films now. They were elegant and handsome. All the women wore long beautiful dresse and the men wore really handsome suits. You could really tell the poor from the rich because the rich wore nice things and the poor wore old things that looked like rags. The houses were old looking too, I really like how they made this film.

Shots of this film were kind of old style as well. When they would go on to a new scene they’d stop and show the photograph of the new scene and the date and place and then zoom into it and start the scene, it was really cool. The colors in the film were really nice too because some of them really stood out in the film for instance when Samantha and her uncle and aunt came out onto the street in New York there were a lot of poor people wearing rags and they were all gray and the weather was gloomy and Samanthat comes out in a bright red cloak. It really stood out in the scene because all the attention goes on to her.

This film was great, I really enjoyed it because it was one of those films that you could really copare to your life. Usually the things that happen in the film make you feel like you actually aren’t the only one going through hard times because there are people going through worse things. “Samantha An American Girl Holiday” was more a family movie because it is happy, sad, funny and it was a lesson for life. I would really recommend this because it is a calm movie and it doesn’t have anything bad in it.
